Two campgrounds are available within the park. Tree-shaded Pine Grove is located a short distance from the entrance station. The other is near the Loxahatchee River. At 1,043 acres, Oleta River State Park is the largest urban park in the state. Located on Biscayne Bay in northeast Dade County, the most prominent natural feature of the park is the Oleta River, for which the park is named. Reservations available through Reserve America.

Oleta River State Park currently has over 10 miles of challenging, intermediate mountain bike trails. For the beginner, there are over 4 miles of novice trails and 3 miles of paved trail. The paved trail also offers great conditions for roller blading. The park is very conscience about safety on the trails and provides a bicycle helmet loaner system for those that forget their bicycle helmets.

A primitive youth camping area and 14 primitive rental cabins are available by reservations.

Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park offers 20 beautiful, shady sites with electric, water and dump station and 15 primitive sites for horseback campers. A spacious bathhouse with clean showers and laundry facilities is available in the family camping area and horse paddocks are currently under construction at the horseback campground.

Riding the trails in Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park on horseback is one of the best ways to see the real Florida. With more than 110 miles of two-trail roads horseback riders are apt to see an abundance of wildlife. In early spring its possible to hear the endangered Florida Grasshopper Sparrow singing in its dry prairie habitat. The trails take you through dry prairie, moist wetlands and cool, shady hammocks. Bring your own horses and enjoy a day’s ride or stay overnight in our beautiful horseback campground.
