If you are a frequent visitor to Destin or contemplating a first time visit during the fall, a fishing trip can be the highlight of your trip. There is much in the news recently about the early closure of the Red Snapper season, and it seems to be having an effect on the number of fall charters on the books for the local fleet here in Destin. In reality, this has always been the best time of the year to consider taking a trip with or without Red Snapper. There is still an abundance of trigger fish, mackerel, grouper, numerous amberjack species, and multiple snapper species other than Red.
The charter boat industry is the lifeblood of the greater Destin area, and they could really use everyones continued support. If you are planning a trip to the Destin, FL area this fall, be sure to book a fishing trip with one of the off-shore charter boats in the Destin Harbor or with one of several In-shore charter boats. I guarantee you will catch some fish and have a great time!
WOW Scott!! Pretty work! That was a banner day for sure! The inshore gulf fishing has been on fire as well. Kings are biting so good it almost isn’t fair, and the red snapper were easy table fare to catch last week as well. Now that red snapper season is over I will be taking my charters back to all those spots that we caught black snappers and actually “target” them. In the bay the spanish mackeral have been red hot too. Fishing is great all year round here and red snapper aren’t the only fish to catch.

Charter Boat First Shot
That’s right the fall fishing season has some of the best fishing to offer, the big King Mackeral are on fire right now. The offshore fishing is hot and getting hotter. I went offshore last Monday and tagged and released 1 Blue Marlin and 2 White Marlins and had another Blue Marlin on. Now that’s pretty hot. I took a group of 6 guys the other day for 12 hrs and caught 15-25 lb kings and 6 30-40lb Amberjacks and had a little time too do some offshore trolling and caught 2 wahoos and 3 Bull Dolphin, fishing like that just dosen’t get any better and we didn’t even catch any Red Snapper!
