We've stayed at the "Palms of Destin" several times with our two children (9 & 11) and absolutely LOVE it! It is a beautiful place! The pool is awesome! The resort offers a shuttle to Henderson Park Beach. It's centrally located with plenty to do all the way around. You couldn't ask for a better price. The rates are really good for what you get!

Best bet is to check with Harbor Walk Marina/Village for temporary moorage on Destin harbor....the other possibility is Baytowne Wharf which works better if you are staying in S'Walton or Sandestin area....

I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that I could dock my boat while staying in Destin on vacation? I guess sort of like a boat slip for rental.

There is much to chose from in terms of live music in the Destin area...much depends on your age group and musical tastes. So here goes: For "twenty somethings" best bets are the newly remodeled Nightown, Club Overboard, AJ’s or the Swamp on Okaloosa Island. For "thirty somethings" or others that prefer jam bands, best bets are Harbor Docks or Funky Blues Shack (either Destin or Sandestin). If you just like a good variety of live music, (classic rock, dance, funk, etc) best bets will always be AJ's or the Hogs Breath Saloon. If you are out in Sandestin or Seaside, check out Hammerheads at Baytown Wharf or Bud and Alley's respectively, for the best bets for live music.

Favorite places to eat while in Destin? The Destin dining experience has always been about the seafood, but sometimes the best known restaurants aren't the best in terms of price/value, overall food quality, and service. Last week we were trying to decide between Harbor Docks and Zampieri's, and after a nano second it was an easy decision. If you don't mind over-priced fish, ($28 for snapper?) marginal service, nowhere to park, then Harbor Docks is for you. On the other hand, at Z's Fish House on the very same harbor, you have ample parking, an even better view, superior service and delicous appetizers and entrees. Not only can you enjoy fine dining in a classy atmosphere, with the addition of their value priced entrees, you don't have to feel like you were the one "fileted" in the process!
